| Well basicly as the title says...
We are here to discuss if our Coop server should change from a non mumble server to a pure mumble server.
Good Sides: Everyone teamplay active, and having fun no matter what
Bad Sides: There will always be people who are not in mumble, people without mics, and some people may not join the server cause they never used mumble cause they dont know how it works?
Let the discussion Begin:

| I like the idea of mumble being integrated but i think there is a need for a message upon loading the server instructing people to check our site for details on how to get mumble working correctly... it would mean having a section on our site with these details or having a link to mumble's website with the relevant troubleshooting info. it would increase our site traffic and make the teamplay within the server alot more effective. the key things to make people aware of would be...
Running mumble as administrator, loading mumble before PR, NOT talking before a correct shortcut button is created. NOT using the squad leader mumble shortcut.
and so on....
I do like the idea though, and also a good idea would be to have a message go out to all squad leaders in the server to ensure they are logged into teamspeak to allow good communications amongst squad leaders. (i.e Special Forces SL calling CAS SL for aerial support etc....)
Let us know what your thoughts are.

| Also,
if people join and do not have a mic, they could still be a valuable member of the team as long as they were too connected to mumble in order to recieve orders... If, however, they are in a mumble squad, but are not willing to use mumble, they should be prepared to be kicked from the squad because it is not good for the SL to have to put out messages to the squad via mumble, in game chat AND text....

| True, true..
Though this also means lots of admin based work, making sure people are on mumble, and if the server is full always to check the mumble users list, to asure they are all on mumble etc..

| Good point, I like the fact that our server doesn't seem to attract too many of the idiots out there which makes the admin side of things a bit easier on us, which allows us more time to do these kind of tasks. whilst it would primarily be an admins role, checking the mumble lists could be done by any member of USF and info passed on to server admins... this ensures every USF member is getting what they want out of the server/clan and ensures the sneaky non-mumble users are identified and dealt with accordingly. We would need to have a leanient attitude towards the poppers at first to ensure they understand that it is a mumble server and what is expected of them... maybe we could create a forum topic under the admin area where we put the names of people warned/removed from server due to lack of mumble, that way we would build up a database and see if people are repeat offenders or just hadn't realised the importance and have since got mumble working... for example.... 20/02/2011 "JohnDoe" was warned that this is a mumble server and added to the "warned" list.... 25/02/2011 "JohnDoe" was given final warning due to lack of mumble... 27/02/2011 "JohnDoe" was kicked/banned due to joining our mumble server without mumble and ignoring admins request.... added to "mumble kick/bans" list..... This way, if an admin catches someone playing without mumble, they check the lists first, if the names not there, they issue a warning following correct protocol and so on....
(a kick first would maybe be the correct approach to ensure they understand it is an important issue, this way it might not alienate them from our server and make them decide to get mumble working rather than boy cott the server)
just an idea.

| i vote for mumble. it simplifies things too much for it not to be implemented. i think that maybe it shouldnt be required, but recommended. that way people who dont/cant use mumble can just avoid the squads with *mumble* in the name. but i also see where that could become a problem fast.. required or recommended i say yes for mumble

| HOWEVER! We tryed this yesterday, we need a large number on mumble before officaly naming [MUMBLE] !
I'd surgest we all as a clan use mumble, and try to get the pubbers onto the mumble channel or TS also.
We need A LOT! of man power in order to run a mumble server, basicly a Coop MUMBLE server is the same as filling a normal deployment server. First we must push our reputation a bit higher, I wanna see that server full atleast once a day!
